The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to two fires across the street from each other in the 300 block of Avenue R South on Sunday evening.

Several fire crews were called to the first house fire at approximately 4:45 p.m.
They needed to call in reinforcements when they realized the house across the street was also burning.

The flames in both structures were eventually extinguished after several hours of effort.
The fire department has not said what caused the fires or provided a damage estimate.
