Man charged with 2nd-degree murder after body found in Toronto east-end home

Toronto police say a man is facing a second-degree murder charge after a 37-year-old man was found dead in an east-end home.

Police were called to a home on Greenwood Avenue near Mortimer Avenue at around 10 a.m. on Thursday with reports a body was inside the home.

Homicide Squad Det. Rob Choe told Global News on Thursday that it’s believed the victim, later identified as Chadwick Francis, was deceased for more than a day.

A male suspect was taken into custody after officers went to the house.

The victim’s husband, 41-year-old Michael Duhame, with charged with second-degree murder. He made a brief appearance in court by telephone on Friday and was remanded into custody.

A neighbour, who asked not to be identified, told Global News they last saw the men on Tuesday.

Neighbours told Global News the couple were well-liked and that Francis worked for his family’s auctioneering business. Duhame worked as a volunteer relations manager for a non-profit society that oversees financial analysts.
