Montreal drivers having grown exasperated at the mere sight of construction cones should brace themselves – more are coming.

Roadwork is set to begin Wednesday on a section of Highway 40 on the West Island. It is expected to stretch over roughly 10 km from Saint-Charles Boulevard in Kirkland to Veterans Boulevard in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue.

Work will run until November 2013, pause for the winter, and resume in April 2014. It should end – assuming there are no delays – in late 2014, nearly a year and a half from now.

The number of lanes will be reduced during the day. Complete closures are also slated to occur occasionally at night.
