A North Okanagan RCMP officer who followed his nose didn’t find what he was expecting but would still lead to an arrest.
On Friday at 3 p.m., the Vernon RCMP officer noticed a black truck with loose garbage bags rolling around in the back.
When he approached the driver, he noticed the odor of fresh marijuana, which prompted a search.
While there was no evidence of marijuana, the search uncovered a cell phone equipped with a taser.
The 37-year-old man faces a charge of possession of a prohibited weapon.
While RCMP tasers have an output of 50,000 volts, the one seized emits 2 million volts.
