SASKATOON – Environment Canada says strong thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes are expected Monday afternoon in southern Saskatchewan.
A very unstable moist airmass combined with daytime heating and a low pressure system moving from Alberta this morning will create very favourable conditions for severe thunderstorms, according to the federal agency.
These severe thunderstorms will also have the potential to produce large hail, flooding rain, deadly lightning and powerful winds.
Residents are asked to secure outdoor property and to ensure family members and co-workers are prepared to take action.
If severe weather approaches, do not wait for warnings and take shelter immediately.
