A West Kelowna restaurant is in ruins today following a bizarre overnight accident.
The Subway restaurant at Main Street and Gossett Road in downtown Westbank lost its entire storefront when a one ton truck careened off the road at 2:35am. The driver fled the scene.
West Kelowna RCMP brought in a police dog to find a suspect, but the trail went cold up the road at the Westbank Shopping Centre.
The truck and dump trailer in tow had been stolen from Peachland earlier Monday.
When it crashed into the Subway, the trailer was also carrying a front end loader, which was determined to have been also stolen.
Police are now trying to find the owner of the loader, A Volvo Skidsteer. Anyone with information can contact the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880 or Crime Stoppers.
