Niagara Regional Police say a six-year-old boy who was the subject of an Amber Alert Sunday has been found safe.
Officials said officers in St. Catharines were first informed about a possible parental abduction at 9 a.m. Sunday. The alert was issued around 12:30 p.m. for the boy who was believed to be with his father.
At the time, their last known location was Hamilton.
Niagara police said around 1:10 p.m. “as a direct result of the Amber Alert,” the suspect attended a police station in St. Catharines and surrendered himself to officers.
The child was safe and the suspect was arrested.
A 44-year-old Hamilton man is facing charges of abduction in contravention of a custody or parenting order, and disobeying a court order.
He is currently in custody pending a bail hearing in St. Catharines on Monday.
