Operation Attention is the Canadian Forces’ training and mentoring mission based in Kabul. The Canadians are helping the Afghan National Army, Afghan Air Force and Afghan National Police as they take control of security operations in the country.

Approximately 900 Canadian Forces members are going to Afghanistan in this rotation.

The soldiers will not take part in combat missions. They’re expected to return in March 2014.

Canada’s combat role in Afghanistan ended in 2011. The Canadian Forces have been sending troops to Afghanistan since 2001.
