Lightning disables weather radar station in Saskatchewan

SASKATOON – Lightning has disabled a weather radar station in Saskatchewan.

Environment Canada meteorologist Dan Fulton says the electronics are probably fried at the station in Bethune, and he expects the facility may be inoperable for some time.

Fulton says there is a radar station in Glasgow, Montana that covers most of the Bethune station’s area, so its images are being used as a temporary replacement.

The station is fully automated so there were no injuries.
