CALGARY- The chaos continues in High River, two weeks after devastating floods damaged thousands of homes.
The cleanup only got underway a week ago, after RCMP restricted access to the town due to safety concerns. Residents have been busy assessing the damage and cleaning out basements that were submerged in water.
Thanks in part to volunteers that have driven in from Calgary, huge piles of debris have been pulled out of homes—but now, residents are struggling to find a place to put them. The town is making every vehicle that heads into the dump weigh in and out, and taking down the address of where the garbage is coming from—despite tipping fees being waived.
That has led to lines as long as a kilometer in each direction, of people waiting to drop off debris.
