Rumer has it

The daughter of Hollywood royalty is in Winnipeg, shooting a movie of her own.

There’s even rumours her famous parents, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, may show up to join Rumer Willis in our city.

Wednesday, Global News caught up with Rumer, while filming at the Winnipeg Soccer Complex on Waverley Street. Taping began May 6 at various locations in the city, including Tec Voc High School.

Willis has been developing her own on-screen career since she was seven years old. Now, she’s one of the lead characters in Wild Cherry, a comedy about three high school girls who make a pact to not lose their virginity before graduation. The film also features former reality star Kristen Cavallari, and Tania Raymonde from the television series Lost. Raymonde says the ‘boys versus girls’ comedy has been called the girl version of American Pie, “but it’s more than that. It’s a very funny coming of age story.”

Winnipeg-based production company, Farpoint Films, penned the boys versus girls comedy. Writer Chris Charney says, “any chance to work here is great. The crews are great, and it just makes sense for the story to be set here as well. It’s not set in Winnipeg, but there is a lot of Winnipeg in this movie.”

And, the young stars are raving about our city. “I‘m a big fan,” says Willis. However, our weather has left an impression on her. “One of our friends said where we’re staying, Portage and Main, is the windiest corner in North America.

As all three teen stars gathered, dressed in parkas, Raymonde says, “it’s a bit chilly. I was expecting it to be a bit warmer. The day we got here, it was snowing, which was interesting.

Filming wraps up May 29.
