If you’ve been waiting for an overdue package or cheque in the mail, it may very well have ended up in a heap of stolen mail recently discovered by police.
Between August 1st, 2007 and March 7th, 2008, Canada Post got complaints about numerous pieces of mail including gift cards, cheques, cds and dvds never made it to their destinations.
An investigation by the Winnipeg Police Service Commercial Crime Unit, with the assistance of Canada Post Inspectors and RCMP, led to Landmark where the missing mail was found.
A 55 year old man has been arrested and faces charges of theft of mail and posession of goods obtained by crime.
Canada Post says he was responsible for delivering mail to carrier depots in Winnipeg, and has worked for the organization for 28 years.
If you think any of your mail is missing, you’re asked to call 1-800-267-1177.
