Nackawic RCMP said McQuade and Hitchcock, both from Perth-Andover, were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the passenger side of a pick-up truck, after it hit gravel and flipped.

An RCMP reconstructionist determined the vehicle was travelling at about 110 km/h — the posted speed limit in the area — when it hit the shoulder and crashed.

The driver, a 44-year-old man from Carlingford, survived the crash, but was hospitalized with serious injuries.
