Magnificent garden

This magnificent garden located in south Calgary spans over 3.6 acres and is owned and cared for by Ernie and Divina Cayetano. Realtor Wendy Morrison says she’s never seen anything like it in the Calgary area.

Ernie and Divina came to Calgary from the Philippines forty years ago and they had a dream. They were both avid gardeners and wanted to create a garden reminiscent of the beautiful gardens at home. In 2003, after raising their three boys and both working through the intervening years, they had saved enough to buy an acreage, where they began building their garden.

Throughout the years before they owned the land, Ernie and Divina had been intimately involved with the local Philippino community in Calgary and had formed may close friendships. Having grown to know and love Ernie and Divina, those many friends and family also shared their dream and over the years they have all built and maintained the garden together.

Ernie and Divina are about to retire and move back to the Philippines where they are building a nursery. They hope that, when they sell thier acreage, the new owners will share their dream and ensure that the garden continues to flourish.
