VANCOUVER – The lawyer representing a woman who admitted to taking part in Vancouver’s Stanley Cup riot says it’s time Camille Cacnio put her life back together.
Jason Tarnow made the comment after Cacnio was handed a one-day jail term, which amounted to time served, for violating conditions of a suspended sentence imposed last year.
Tarnow says Cacnio has paid dearly for 20 seconds of bad judgement, when she looted two pairs of pants from a downtown Vancouver store during the height of the June 2011 riot, following the Canucks’ loss to Boston in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final.
He says she has endured personal and medical difficulties since that night and he called the one-day sentence “fair.”
Cacnio was arrested during a traffic stop in Vancouver in January.
She was accused of breaking her curfew and drinking, both violations of the two year suspended sentence she received after pleading guilty to participating in a riot.
