Officers and paramedics were called around midnight to a home on 86 Street near 113 Avenue in the Parkdale neighbourhood.

Edmonton police said when officers arrived, they found a 32-year-old man suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

EMS treated the man and and transported him to hospital. Alberta Health Services said paramedics took a man to hospital in serious condition, while police described the injuries as life-threatening. EPS said in a late-morning update that the man was recovering in hospital.

The home was taped off, and several police cruisers were parked in the area.

Police said investigators determined a number of people were involved and that the shooting was not random.

A description was provided of the suspected shooter, who police said was located and arrested later in the morning by northeast division officers.
