Torrential rains, hail and wind gusts nearing 100 kilometres/hour blew across southern Ontario Sunday night. The storm knocked out power and kept emergency crews busy trying to return normalcy.
Among the many hard-hit areas are centres like Bradford, Newmarket, Barrie, Guelph and Owen Sound.
The storm is also being blamed for a major power outage at Pearson International airport.
The GTAA has been working to restore hydro service but numerous flights had to be delayed until the worst of the storm had ended.
The elements also wreaked havoc on area trees and hydro poles.
Hydro one says at least 36,000 customers in Southern Ontario lost power during the storm.
Wires came down in a wide number of areas, including in the Danforth area around Chester and Browning.
Toronto hydro reports outages in several pockets of the city, including the Don Mills and Finch area. Extensive damage from the storm is also being reported in many other parts of the province.
The heavy rain also made for some slick driving conditions.
"Ponding" was reported on major highways as drivers had to slow down to avoid hydro-planing.
No serious accidents were reported, but flash floods do remain a concern.
