Homicide detectives investigate suspicious death in central Edmonton’s McCauley neighbourhood

Homicide investigators have been called to an area in the northern part of downtown Edmonton after a person was taken to hospital, police said early Monday evening. Sarah Komadina/ Global News

Homicide investigators were called in after a man was found injured in an alley Monday evening and later died in hospital.

Officers were called to the northern part of downtown Edmonton, near 96 Street and 106A Avenue in the McCauley neighbourhood, around 5 p.m.

Police said the man was treated at the scene by EMS and taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The alley was taped off and investigators could be seen taking photos of evidence on the ground.

Police did not say if any arrests have been made in connection with the suspicious death investigation.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday.
