TORONTO — The Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (MACM) announced Friday that John Zeppetelli is its new director.
Zeppetelli will become the 10th director of the museum at the corner of Sainte-Catherine Ouest and Jeanne-Mance when he takes over Aug. 12.
The MACM celebrates its 50th anniversary next year.
In March, MACM director Paulette Gagnon, chief curator Marie Fraser and communications director Danielle Legentil announced their departures.
Zeppetelli, curator at the DHC/ART Foundation for Contemporary Art since 2006, previously designed programs and exhibitions at the Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts, the MACM and the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London.
The MACM hopes Zeppetelli can boost attendance and grow revenues from $400,000 a year to $1 million within three years. The museum had a $14.5 million budget in 2011-12.
