HALIFAX – Police are accusing four youths of stealing a sailboat from the Halifax waterfront and trying to sail it across the city’s harbour.
Halifax police say they received a call at 3:15 a.m. from a security officer who spotted the teens in the boat as it pulled away from the shoreline.
Police say the sailboat was intercepted by a boat from Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency.
The teens were arrested on the Dartmouth side of the waterfront.
A 16-year-old youth and three 14-year-old boys – all from Halifax – have been charged with theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property and taking a vessel without consent.
