Man charged after fatal pedestrian collision in Halifax

An 83-year-old driver has been charged after he struck a pedestrian in Halifax on Tuesday.

Halifax Regional Police say at around 1:20 p.m. they responded to the collision at the intersection of Dunbrack Street and Clayton Park Drive.

According to police, the pedestrian was crossing Dunbrack Street in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a pickup truck.

Police say the pedestrian, a 74-year-old Halifax woman, was taken to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
