EDMONTON – Five men have been charged in connection to a string of armed robberies in rural areas around Edmonton.
Police are investigating seven bank robberies in Lac La Biche, Wildwood, Bonneyville, Millet, Onoway, Wetaskiwin and Gibbons.
Last Friday, RCMP and Edmonton Police arrested three men and woman in the Beverly area of Edmonton.
34-year-old Franklin Gladue was among them.
Gladue is facing several charges, including robbery with a weapon, possession of stolen property, disguise with intent and pointing a firearm among others. Gladue is charged in all seven robberies.
Two youths, a 16-year-old male from Hobbema and 15-year-old male from Bonnyville, are also facing several charges including robbery with a firearm. The pair are alleged to have been accomplices of Gladue.
The woman was released without any charges.
Two other men have been charged in relation to the armed robbery in Lac La Biche.
30-year-old Neil George Gladue and 26-year-old Tyler Bruce Clark are facing several charges including robbery with a firearm and possession of stolen property over $5,000.
All five men remain in custody.
