CALGARY – Calgary Police are investigating after a botched break-in attempt in the city’s southwest over the weekend, which led them to a large and bloody crime scene in the community of Killarney.
Residents living on 25rd Avenue Southwest woke up to screams around 4 a.m. on Sunday.
When police arrived, they found a man bleeding and paramedics rushed him to Foothills Hospital in non life-threatening condition.
Police say it appears the man tried to break-in through a window and was cut by the broken glass.
They say he then roamed the neighbourhood, leaving a trail of blood on sidewalks, fences, and cars that stretched for several blocks.
Linda Parsons, the victim of the break-in, says she was extremely startled when the man dove headfirst through her bedroom window.
“He landed on me and flipped or something and stood beside my bed. I sat up in bed and said get the hell out of here and he looked outside and said I’m sorry,” says Parsons.
She says the man then left by climbing back out the window.
Police say the man was likely drunk or on drugs and has no connection to the homes he went to.
He’s currently recovering in hospital.
Police are still waiting to interview him before any charges are laid.
