Smoke filled the air in Kenora Friday after a fire underneath the Clarion Lakeside Inn.
Police were forced to shut down a nearby street. The hotel sustained smoke damage after acrid smoke was sucked inside through the ventilation system, according to Todd Skene, Kenora’s fire chief.
Fire crews tackled the blaze by 8:30 p.m. The fire department first arrived at about 6:30 p.m.
The nine-storey hotel is temporarily closed.
No one was injured in the blaze, according to Skene.
“No loss of life, everybody was evacuated well, it worked good that way, we had a warming centre set up across the street,” Skene said.
