Three people charged in Alberta escort service scam

RED DEER, AB – RCMP have charged three people in connection to two robberies they believe were linked to people using online escort services.

Both of the male victims say they contacted a woman through an internet escort site, and agreed on a place to meet.

When they arrived, the suspects say they were threatened by two men with weapons who stole their money and credit cards. One victim also says his vehicle was stolen.

In one case, one of the victims was held captive before managing to escape and call police.

Police have charged three people in connection with the crimes.

Lindsey Rae Mazzei, 30, is facing 13 charges including forcible confinement, kidnapping and extortion.

Florian Edward “EJ” Poitra, 31, is facing 16 charges including kidnapping, forcible confinement and assault.

Mark William Bitterman, 30, is facing 19 charges including robbery, kidnapping and extortion.
