In an effort to appeal to the mainstream consumer, prices on electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles are coming down. While a deal is often a good incentive, the industry is still trying to get over some hurdles.
The electric hybrid may be green, quiet and have impressive torque, but the price tags tend to be on the high side. It’s one of the reasons car manufactures have been advertising new lower prices for these types of cars.
General Motors is offering interest-free seven-year loans on their Chevrolet Volt. Nissan will be dropping the price of their 2013 electric Leaf vehicles by 9 per cent. Other car makers like Mitsubishi are offering similar incentives.
Price aside, there’s the issue of where to plug them in. There are only 450 all-electric vehicles registered with ICBC and virtually all of them are owned by government agencies.
Consulting plugshare.com there were fewer locations indicated where you can recharge your all electric or plug in hybrid.
