New technology is helping the RCMP to easily locate vehicles that fail to meet guidelines.
It’s called Automatic License Plate Recognition and automatically scans plates as the officer drives.
The device checks for unregistered or expired plates, stolen vehicles, and whether the vehicle owner is suspended or wanted.
RCMP say the new technology allows a large number of vehicles to be checked in a short amount of time.
The ALPR system was announced Wednesday by SGI and the RCMP.
Two cars are fully equipped with the technology and will be used across the province.
Saskatchewan is the second province to introduce the ALPR system.
