SALTCOATS, Sask. – Two funnel clouds were spotted near Saltcoats in southeastern Saskatchewan on Monday.

Environment Canada had issued a tornado warning around 11:30 a.m., but lifted it about two hours later.

The areas affected included the Rural Municipality of Saltcoats, Bredenbury, Churchbridge, Calder and Wroxton.

A warning means funnel clouds have actually been spotted.

Witnesses were posting photos on the Internet almost as quickly as the weather changed.

Michael Lam says he was only 15 kilometres away when one of the funnel clouds touched down.

“I was just working and I happened to turn around to look at something. It was sunny where we were and I turned around and noticed the funnel cloud off in the distance,” he said.

“Eventually it made its way to the ground and stuck on the ground for … a good 10 or 15 minutes at least.”

Sidney Danyluk from Yorkton was driving back from Saltcoats when he saw not one, but two funnel clouds. He also saw one of them touch down.

“It was on the ground because you could see the dust blowing up around the bottom of it.”

“They were pretty much in the same spot. We drove about 15 minutes down the highway and the one had started breaking up. You could see it start to break up and then in a few seconds it was gone.”
