Hundreds attend funeral for slain Sask. conservation officer

QUILL LAKE, Sask. – Conservation officers travelled from across the country to Quill Lake, Saskatchewan to attend the funeral of a fellow officer who was hit by an allegedly impaired driver.

Justin Knackstedt was killed last month after he and his partner stopped to help RCMP deal with a crash on a busy highway.

Around 200 officers walked in a procession at the funeral yesterday.

Blaine Thomas Taypotat of Saskatoon is charged with criminal negligence causing death, impaired driving causing death and flight from a peace officer causing death.
