Interactive map to help Regina drivers during construction season

With construction season here, the City of Regina has announced an interactive map to help drivers avoid delays.

The map gives the start and end dates of each project along with a description of what will take place. Benefits of the construction are also listed. Major projects will also include pictures and videos.

“The more we are able to inform our citizens, the better it is,” Regina Mayor Pat Fiacco said.

From now until the end of October, the City of Regina will spend around $15 million on building and repairing 28 km of streets and sidewalks. They will also spend $5 million on renewal and maintenance of six bridges.

Most of the work will include resurfacing or recapping streets. Crews began working earlier this week on construction projects.

Major projects include:

– Arcola Avenue Bridge overpass at Ring Road

– Albert Street (College Avenue to Saskatchewan Drive)

– 11th Avenue and 12th Avenue conversion to two-way streets

Fiacco also mentioned Regina will host an Infrastructure Summit January 26-28, 2011 for cities across Canada.
