You can call it a sign of the times. With more Edmonton residents using the internet to find local phone numbers, the Yellow Pages group, which publishes the White pages, has decided to not mass deliver the phone book to Edmonton area customers. Yellow pages business directories will still arrive in April, but those who want an updated version of the residential book must call the customer service number at 1-800-268-5637.
The decision isn’t sitting well with seniors who rely on the phone book. "Not fair at all, I don’t think. I think there’s probably enough changes every year that we should probably be getting a new book," says Sandy Ramsley.
A final decision has yet to be made as to what to do with the White Pages but the Yellow Pages group is tossing around the possbility of mass delivering the phone book on a bi-yearly basis, which it has done in other Canadian cities.
