Toronto police say a 42-year-old father is the city’s latest homicide victim after a shooting early Saturday.
Police told Global News officers were flagged down in the area of Oakwood Avenue and Vaughan Road at 1:42 a.m. and an officer located a man who had been shot in the area.
The victim, since identified as 42-year-old Craig Campbell, was rushed to hospital where he later died, police said.
Police said Campbell is a father and his family has been notified of his death.
The shooting is believed to have been targeted, but it is unclear if Campbell was the intended victim, police said.
Officers spoke to some people at the scene of the shooting, but are looking to speak to anyone who has additional information or video from the area around the time of the incident.
Investigators are also looking to speak to the driver of a maroon SUV seen leaving the area after the shooting, police said.
There is no word on any arrests in connection with the incident.
Roads were closed in the area for the investigation.
