Despite long winter, street sweeping on schedule

SASKATOON – Despite the challenges of a late spring melt, the city of Saskatoon says street sweeping is on schedule and over 50 per cent done.

The city says crews have had to adjust after an unusually long winter which led to more sand being spread on streets.

Private and civic crews have been coordinating with the parks branch which is cleaning boulevards and center medians to promote the growth of the grass.

All medians on Idylwyld Drive, 22nd Street and College Drive have been cleaned and 8th Street is scheduled to begin tonight.

The city is reminding motorists to slow down and be patient when coming across slow-moving street sweepers.

Residents can view when their neighbourhood is scheduled for sweeping on the city’s new interactive street sweeping map.
