TORONTO – A severe thunderstorm watch for the city of Toronto was issued by Environment Canada on Friday.
The weather agency issued the alert just before 6 p.m. warning that severe thunderstorms could move into the area in the afternoon or early evening.

The agency also warns that large hail, damaging winds and heavy rainfall could accompany the storms.
The storm is expected to pass through the region by Friday evening, the weather agency said.
