SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Police in New Brunswick say they will not lay charges in the death of a psychiatric patient at a Saint John hospital last year and are calling for a public inquest.
Twenty-two-year-old Serena Perry of Hampton, N.B., was found dead on Feb. 14, 2012.
A month later, police arrested a suspect in connection with her death.
The Saint John Police Force says it has consulted with the Crown and decided no charges will be laid.
They say a forensic pathology exam could not confirm the cause of death.
Chief Bill Reid has requested that the coroner’s office hold a public inquest.
