Gallery: Severe flooding on DVP in Toronto

TORONTO – Flooding has forced police to shut down part of a major highway in Toronto early Wednesday morning.

About 12 hours of rain has flooded the bottom end of the north-south Don Valley Parkway, where the Don River has overflowed and spilled onto the highway.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The DVP is closed between Bloor Street and the Gardiner Expressway, and some commuter train service is affected as well.

Tow trucks had to assist some vehicles stranded in the deep water.
