Man recovering after drive-by shooting in North Battleford, Saskatchewan

NORTH BATTLEFORD, Sask. – An apparent drive-by shooting in a quiet North Battelford, Saskatchewan neighbourhood has left a man recovering in a Saskatoon hospital with serious injuries.

It happened just before 10 a.m. on Saturday in the 1700-block of 104th Street after police say a suspect or suspects drove up to a home and fired at least five shots before fleeing.

The 24-year-old North Battleford man was hit multiple times and rushed to hospital in critical condition. He was later transported to a Saskatoon hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

The victim was visiting with a group of about ten people when the shooting occurred.

The shooting has left residents concerned for the safety of children in the neighbourhood.

“The thing that concerned me the most was the fact that he was supposed to have been driving and letting the shots fly,” said Albert Borschneck.

“It could have been anybody, an innocent person or anybody that could have been shot.”

Police have interviewed several people and say they have been able to speak to the victim.

No suspects have been identified and Mounties continue to investigate.
