Youth charged after lock down lifted at Saskatoon high schools

SASKATOON – Police have charged two Saskatoon teenagers following an alleged gun sighting at a Saskatoon high school on Thursday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m., police were called to Tommy Douglas High Collegiate for a physical altercation involving four male youth.

A witness reported seeing one of the youth armed with what appeared to be a gun.

Police say the altercation broke out during the trafficking of marijuana.

The youth fled the scene before officers arrived.

School had already been dismissed for the day, but as a precaution the entire Shaw Centre was put under lock down along with Tommy Douglas and Bethlehem Catholic High School. The entire building was searched by police.

Two male youth were taken into custody at the scene while the other two were not found.

A 17-year-old boy is charged with trafficking marijuana and a 15-year-old boy is facing a charge of robbery. They are scheduled to appear in provincial court this morning.

No weapon was found and the incident is still under investigation.
