Students rescued from Kananaskis amid snow and rain

CALGARY – About 40 junior high students had to be rescued from Kananaskis Country on Wednesday, after temperatures dropped and rain started to pour.

The group was camping when a downpour started. The rain soon turned to snow, and campers realized they were unprepared for the weather.

Officials asked emergency crews to help them get out of the woods before the temperature dropped more overnight, and the situation worsened.

EMS helped transport the students to a nearby ranger station, where they were assessed. None of them needed to be taken to the hospital.
