TORONTO — An Ontario woman won $10,000 on Monday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show after demonstrating an unusual talent.

April English of Lindsay, Ont. — about 90 minutes northeast of Toronto — was named a finalist in the “Ellen, Here’s My Talent” competition after submitting a video clip showing her skipping rope while seated on the floor.

The Health Promotion student at Laurentian University was flown to Los Angeles for the taping last Friday.

“I was in a skipping club in Grade 7 and I watched someone do it so I said, ‘I want to try that out’ and it took me about a year,” English explained to DeGeneres. “Now I just do it at parties.”

The excitement of winning the cash prize (an a sash reading “I’m Talented”) on Ellen was apparently short-lived.
