Man killed while crossing street early Monday morning

EDMONTON – The Edmonton Police Service is investigating the city’s third traffic fatality of the May long weekend after a 26-year-old man was reportedly hit by a car near 178 Street and 64 Avenue.

At around 1:15 a.m. Monday, police responded to the scene and found a 26-year-old man lying on the road.

They believe the man ran into the southbound lanes of 178 Street and collided with a Volvo. He suffered life-threatening head injuries.

He was rushed to hospital where he died.

The 17-year-old driver of the Volvo has not been charged.

The investigation continues.
