A body discovered on a trail in the Colony Farm area of Coquitlam on Monday has been identified as 44-year-old Clifford Arthur Devitt of Maple Ridge.

“Our investigators can reveal that Mr. Devitt was a transient person who mostly frequented the areas of Maple Ridge, Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam. A bicycle which investigators believe belongs to Mr. Devitt was also found near his body. We are releasing a photograph of Mr. Devitt and his bicycle in hopes of generating tips from members of the public who may have seen Mr. Devitt on May 12, 2013 before 4 p.m. or in the hours or days prior to the discovery of his body” said Sergeant Bari Emam of IHIT.

Coquitlam RCMP were called out at about 4 p.m. and determined Devitt likely met with foul play.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called out shortly after and have assumed conduct of the investigation.

IHIT is seeking assistance from anyone who was in the area adjacent to the Dyke system and alongside the trail in the Colony Farm area of Coquitlam on May 12, who may have witnessed anything suspicious, or have information relevant to the discovery of this victim to please call the IHIT Tipline at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihittipline@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
