Human remains found in the Fraser River

A local fisher spotted a human body in the Fraser River this weekend.

The man had set his net in the area of Cannor Road in Chilliwack on Friday evening.

At around 6 o’clock the next morning, the fisher saw a partially submerged body as he was taking in his net, but the body broke free from the net and rolled back into the river.

The fisher described the body as a small build, approximately 180 pounds, wearing a black jacket with a zipper up the wrist area. The sex and ethnicity of the body are unknown.

The Chilliwack Search and Rescue attended, but could not locate the body. RCMP Air Services also deployed Air 1 helicopter for an aerial search of the river, but with no results.

Police are looking for any missing persons matching the description.
