Okanagan park closed as creek spills over

WEST KELOWNA, BC – Rotary Trails Park has been shut down due to flooding from Powers Creek.

The West Kelowna waterway is one of many in the BC Interior affected by the fast melting snowpack.

Sandbags have been placed at Casa Loma, Green Bay, Hitchner Road and Whitworth Road for residents who need to keep water away from their homes and properties.

The District of West Kelowna is asking residents to call 911 when lives or properties become threatened by flood waters.

Vigilance near creeks is recommended due to the fast moving water and unstable banks.
