Brayden Schenn to celebrate Stanley Cup win in Saskatoon

St. Louis Blues forward Brayden Schenn is bringing the Stanley Cup to his hometown of Saskatoon.

The coveted trophy is scheduled to make a brief appearance at a press event on Friday, July 5, at Fire Station No. 1.

The Saskatoon Fire Department said this is a closed family function and the public will not be provided entry.

The 27-year-old NHLer intends to celebrate with friends and family, including his father Jeff Schenn, who is a battalion chief with the fire department.

Restrictions will be in place at the Fire Station No. 1 for the duration of the function. The fire station will remain open for administrative and operational purposes.

Brayden played with the Saskatoon Contacts of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League, and was with the Western Hockey League’s Saskatoon Blades during the 2010-11 season.

The Stanley Cup came to Saskatoon last August, thanks to Washington Capitals forward Chandler Stephenson.

St. Louis won the 2019 Stanley Cup in Game 7 against the Boston Bruins in June. This was the first time the Blues have won the trophy in the franchise’s 52-year history.

Saskatchewan players Tyler Bozak and Jaden Schwartz, who were also on the winning team’s roster, are bringing the Stanley Cup to Regina on July 6.

Hockey fans and members of the public are invited for an opportunity to meet the players, see the trophy and take photos outside of the legislative building starting at 11:30 a.m. CT.
