Rain holds off for 2019 K-Days Parade through downtown Edmonton
The cool, cloudy weather didn’t deter people from coming downtown Friday morning to take in the 2019 K-Days Parade.
“It doesn’t matter if it rains or snows or whatever. We’re good to go,” said Gord Munro, who has been coming down to the parade for about 30 years.
“We pull out all our winter coats,” he added with a laugh.
The parade started at 10 a.m. and ran east along Jasper Avenue from 108 Street to 101 Street, before heading north for a block. The parade then made its way west along 103 Avenue, coming to an end at 103 Street.

While it rained earlier Friday morning, the wet weather held off long enough for parade-goers to enjoy the sights and sounds of the annual event, which included more than 100 entries.
“It’s just a really good day, a good start to K-Days. We love being here,” Munro said.
Maria Moore works downtown and has been coming to the parade since she was a kid.
“When I was really little I came with my grandparents who were visiting from overseas. And that, I think, was the first time I went — when I was seven or eight,” she said.
“It’s always a good time.”
A new element to this year’s parade was a partnership with Alberta Music, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary. Alberta Music is dedicated to helping local professionals in the music industry succeed.
The 10-day K-Days festival started as soon as the parade wrapped up, with the gates at the Edmonton Exhibition Lands opening at noon.
K-Days runs until Sunday, July 28.
