REGINA – An employee who stole more than $17,000 from SaskTel over 18 months has to pay it all back.
The Saskatchewan government reported Monday that the employee put credit on their own SaskTel account, put refund amounts into their own bank account, and stole money from the cash drawer from August 2011 to January 2013.
When it was discovered, SaskTel told police and fired the employee – now the company has won a suit against the employee to get back the money they stole.
The Crown corporation is bringing in outside help to look at its in-store practices to see if they should be tightened.
In another loss report for the first quarter of the year for the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region, there was an incident with a television.
A health centre employee bought a television for personal use in December with a corporate credit card worth $519.46.
The health region found out about it in mid-April. The employee was fired, and charges are pending.
The health centre recovered the TV, but instead of returning it, the TV was kept for use in their residents’ lounge.
