London fire crews battle blaze at Oakridge home

London fire crews responded to 69 Hartson Road on Wednesday morning. London Fire Department

London fire crews are working to extinguish a blaze at a home in the city’s Oakridge neighbourhood.

The call came in to emergency personnel around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday and firefighters responded to 69 Hartson Road, south of Riverside Drive and west of Hyde Park Road.

Officials tell 980 CFPL that two occupants have been removed from the home and no injuries have been reported.

The blaze was discovered in the basement.

Information about what sparked the fire and a damage estimate isn’t available at this time.

It was a busy morning for firefighters who also responded to a call at an apartment building at 30 Baseline Road West, west of Wharncliffe Road South.

Crews were called out just after 7 a.m. and found a smouldering fire in one of the units. One person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Officials haven’t provided information regarding the cause of that blaze or the extent of the damage caused by it.
