Police destroy black bear in Prince Albert

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – Police were forced to destroy a black bear looming around the southern edge of Prince Albert on Saturday evening.

Around 8:30 p.m., police were called to the intersection of Marquis Road and 6th Avenue East for a complaint of a full-grown black bear.

The animal was attempting to gain access to garbage containers.

Police attempted to redirect the bear away from the populated area and push it back into the wooded area.

The bear continued to move towards the city and was destroyed by police due to the danger it posed to the public.

Saskatchewan Environment Resource Management (SERM) attended the scene and disposed of the animal.
