Okanagan residents ‘Have a Heart’

Astral Have a Heart Radiothon raises more than $62,000. Sara Gallaher

KELOWNA – Kelowna and area residents opened their pockets to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars for a one day fundraiser for Kelowna General Hospital on Thursday.

The event was the 10th Annual Have a Heart Radiothon put on by Astral Radio Kelowna brought in $62,474 in just 12 hours.

On air personalities and staff from the broadcaster’s three radio stations, Sun FM, EZ Rock and AM1150 took part in the fundraiser which went from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Money raised during Thursday’s fundraiser will help purchase specialized equipment for the pediatric trauma and waiting room at KGH.

In the 10 years Astral has been holding the radiothon more than $400,000 has been raised.
